Case Study – Giffnock shower and bathroom

As Mr Ali discovered, it is one thing to ensure you get the design of your bathroom just right for yourself, but quite a daunting task to ensure you get everything just perfect when you are organising the work on behalf of your mum!

Having previously installed a boiler for another member of Mr Ali’s family, we were delighted when he asked us to design a new bathroom and shower room for his mum at her home in Giffnock. The design brief was to ensure the downstairs bathroom had a wow factor whilst the upstairs shower room had to be modern and functional for all the family to enjoy.

The upstairs shower room design was quickly agreed on with the installation of a Matki shower enclosure being preferred due to its build quality over cheaper alternatives and modern sanitaryware was selected from our showroom.  The design of the downstairs bathroom was more challenging but we worked hard with Mr Ali to make sure he was 100% satisfied before a brick was laid.  We are always happy to undertake several designs and by providing CAD drawings relating to our proposals, we gave the family the opportunity to visualise the reality.

The highlight of the bathroom was seeing the Bette Freestanding Bath finally installed, which presented a few challenges for our installation team due to the concrete floors, but nonetheless looked stunning once in position.

By renewing the waste pipes out through the wall, we were able to relocate the position of the existing sanitaryware. Our client also asked us to undertake all aspects of the installation including decoration which we provide as part of our full install service.

By creating a bespoke basin storage unit for our client using Ellis Reflection furniture with a curved granite worksurface and sit on basin, we maximised storage within the rather awkward shaped room. As the unit was to be wall mounted to maximise space, our installers ensured the wall had sufficient fixings to hold the weight of the units / worktop prior to being tiled over using Slate tiles by RAK.

The tiles chosen were suitable for both walls and floor and helped create a real boutique hotel finish.   The feature mosaic glass tile along the top of the tiles with chrome trim  fitted to the edges, completed the look.

Mr Ali and more importantly his mum are now enjoying a truly one-off, bespoke designer bathroom.
